জয়ের জন্য দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে ৩৯৮ রানের লক্ষ্য নিয়ে খেলছিল বাংলাদেশ। যে খানে গতকাল রবিবার চার উইকেটে ১৩৬ রান নিয়ে দিনের খেলা শেষ করে সাকিব বাহিনী। তাই জয়ের জন্য আজ বাংলাদেশের প্রয়োজন ছিল আরও ২৬২ রানের, অপরদিকে আফগানিস্তানের প্রয়োজন ছিল ৪ উইকেটের।
তুলনামূলক সহজ সমীকরণ নিয়ে খেলতে নেমে সোমবার দিনের শুরুতেই বৃষ্টির বাঁধায় পড়ে আফগানরা। বেলা একটায় ম্যাচ শুরুর পরপরই ফের বৃষ্টি নামে। শেষ পর্যন্ত বৃষ্টি থামলে বিকেল সোয়া চারটার দিকে ফের খেলা শুরু হয়। ১৫.২ ওভার খেলা হতেই আফগানরা বাংলাদেশের বাকি চার উইকেট তুলে ম্যাচ জিতে নেয়।
